Tasmanian Expeditions.

Well winter is on the way and for many bushwalkers that signals a stop to exploring our snowbound areas, but it doesnt have to. Tasmanain Expeditions have launched snowshoe tours. Thats right, strapping tennis racquets to your feet and ploughing through the snow. Only these days snowshoes have come a long way from the left over tennis gear to become a highly tuned activity.

Tasmanian Expeditions have been kind enough to provide some material about their tours

New Snowshoeing trips in Tasmania

Discover the Overland Track and Walls of Jerusalem in winter

Tasmanian Expeditions are set to challenge the traditional concept that walking in the island state is only a summer activity with the release of their exciting new range of snowshoeing trips along the iconic Overland Track and in Tasmania’s only true alpine national park, the Walls of Jerusalem, which begin in July.

Their new 4-day Walls of Jerusalem Winter Experience and 7-day Overland Track Winter Trek will appeal to hardier hikers keen to experience Tasmania’s magnificent wilderness regions void of the crowds that are more common during the warmer months.

While you don’t need any previous snowshoeing experience you will need to be quite fit and prepared to brave icy camp conditions. The rewards will be numerous however as you enjoy the sites of surrounding peaks such as Cradle Mountain blanketed with fresh snow, the tranquillity of the frozen lakes and enjoy the eerie silence broken only by the sounds of your feet crunching through fresh snow.

  1. This looks AMAZING!!!! I’m from Brisbane so the idea of snowshoeing is so exotic for me. I checked out these guys’ website tonight and might have to start saving for next winter (if my wife lets me spend our money on it ;) ).

I actually read your post on my mobile on Saturday night on my way to an Adventure Race and lo-and-behold the Tasmanian Expeditions van was parked in the adventure race carpark all the way up here in Queensland.

    • That’s awesome, I’m sure the owners will love the feedback, I don’t really profile companies on here but when I saw the innovation and plugging of a hole in the market I couldn’t resist. Many of our guide go to qld in winter to work and this give them another option to stay in tas. If more tourism companies had the foresight we may the tourist boom here.

I will pass the feedback on.

      Cheers
